 Description:
 
Aliphatic hydrocarbon petroleum resin is an oligomer obtained by cationic polymerization of C5 monomers mainly composed of isoprene. It can be liquid or solid at room temperature. But most products appear in solid form, with a softening point generally around 100 ºC.The characteristics of petroleum resin are high viscosity, low viscosity and high fluidity after heating. The Tg of petroleum resin with a softening point of 100 ºC is generally around 55 ºC. Therefore, petroleum resin is widely used as a thickening agent in hot melt adhesives and pressure-sensitive adhesives. It is also commonly used for low polarity synthetic rubber such as NR, EPDM, SBR, IR formula system.Aliphatic hydrocarbon petroleum resin is a low polarity substance with poor compatibility with polar substances, which greatly limits its application range. Acid modified petroleum resin is a process of grafting maleic anhydride onto petroleum resin to enhance its polarity. This provides good compatibility with polar substances and can be applied to acrylic acid, VAE water-based system, PVC products, polar polymers such as EVA, NYLON, PU, CR, SBS, PS and other blended co solution systems, as well as high polymer blends with inorganic fillers, greatly expand their application scope.
